Armscote Manor Portland - Fingering Weight (limited edition)

We have a limited amount of extra Portland skeins from our March box for the Beyond Merino Yarn Club, which we're making available to everyone.

Portlands are a rare breed of sheep and the oldest recorded sheep in England! This yarn was sourced from Armscote Manor in the UK.

This 2-ply yarn is woollen-spun, and is a plump and bouncy fingering weight. It is light and warm, and contains a sprinkling of red-brown kemp, unique to the Portland breed.

The Portland wool has a slightly “grabby” texture which makes it perfect for stranded colourwork, and would make lovely mittens or hats. Despite not having a low micron count, it isn’t particularly prickly, and depending on your sensitivity you may find it soft enough for a cowl or shawl.

Note: "Velvet" was this month's rich colour option, "Linen" was the neutral option, "Denim" was the muted option, and "Silk" was the vibrant option.
