No, the Sweater Quantity discount cannot be combined with any other discount or promotion. If you have a gift voucher code and would like to place an order that would qualify for this discount please contact us and we can set up a custom checkout for you.
-
We do our best to keep all our yarn colours and bases fully stocked, but if you’re looking for a larger quantity in a specific colour we may not always have it available. By offering dyed to order purchases we allow you to select exactly what you need, and we’ll dye it just for you!
-
To create your custom order simply select “Dyed to order” as your colour option, choose the number of skeins you’ll need, and add them to your cart. Please write your colour choice in the “notes” section at checkout (if you forget to fill it out we’ll contact you before dyeing the order to confirm your choice).
-
No, there’s no extra charge for custom orders, and if you’re ordering more than 5 skeins don’t forget to check if you’re eligible for our Sweater Quantity discounts!
-
All dyed to order yarns will be shipped within 3 weeks of your purchase date. If for any reason we are unable to ship within that time frame we will contact you with an estimated delivery date, and if you choose not to wait your order will be refunded in full.
-
No problem! If we have some of the colours you want in stock you can add them directly to your cart, along with the dyed to order purchase. If you need more than one colour that we don’t have in stock, just include the details of how many skeins you need in each colour in your note.

Yes, subject to the conditions of our Returns & Exchanges policy.

All of our yarns are sold in skeins (sometimes referred to as hanks) and should be wound into balls or “caked” with a yarn winder before working with them.
After removing the label and untwisting the skein, you will see that it is tied in multiple places (usually one tie where the ends are knotted together, and two others to keep the skein from tangling). Make sure that the yarn is all going in the same direction, and no strands are crossing the ties, before putting it on your swift. Cut the ties before winding, being careful to pull the two ends to the outsides of the skein (rather than through it) in order to avoid tangles.
If you don’t have a swift, the back of two chairs (or a helper’s hands) will work in most cases. Due to their high yardage, we don’t recommend winding our Grazioso or Arietta laceweight yarns without a swift. If you don’t have one available, we can wind your yarn into cakes before shipping for a small fee.
-
Yes, we will make sure to ship skeins from a matching dye lot for all orders of multiple skeins. If the skeins we have in stock when you place your order are not from the same dye lot, we will contact you before shipping and give you the option to ship what we have in stock, wait for a new batch to be dyed (usually about 1 week) or receive a full refund for your order.
-
Due to the nature of hand-dyed yarns, some variation in colour will occur from skein to skein, even within the same dye lot. In order to prevent a noticeable stripe in your project, we recommend alternating a few rows when you join a new skein, for a more blended transition.
-
Yes, some of them are. Our superwash yarns can be machine washed, on a gentle cycle. Always wash hand-dyed yarns in cool water, to prevent bleeding. Non-superwash yarns should be hand-washed, please see the washing directions for each yarn for further details.
-
All of our dyes are fully set, and rinsed carefully to ensure that no excess dye remains in the yarn. However, the dyes we use are fairly sensitive to changes in water chemistry, so in some circumstances you may see a small amount of bleeding. If your project uses a single colour of yarn you can simply wash your project separately for the first couple of launderings to check for bleeding, and ensure you won’t transfer dye to other garments unintentionally.
If you are using multiple colours of hand-dyed yarn in the same project, we recommend washing and blocking a swatch using the same method as you intend to use for the finished project, to ensure colourfastness (especially for projects with high contrast between colours).
If you do experience bleeding, check that you are using cool water, and consider trying a different woolwash or detergent. If the bleeding persists, please contact us.
