About Indigo Blockprinting
Indigo (indigofera tinctoria) is the natural world's only source of colourfast blue. However, it is not soluble in water, so needs to be applied in a very unique way in order to use it as a paste for block printing or silk screening.
This kit includes the ingredients to create a thickened paste for applying the indigo, as well as the additives for the bath to fix the paste to the fabric, and the ingredients to put the indigo through the classic "reduction" process, so that it is permanent and colourfast.
The kit includes instructions for creating, applying, fixing and reducing the paste.
